Exercise and being physically active can have many benefits such as having flexibility, muscle strength, and stability. I trained in mat pilates in the UK with Body Control Pilates. The principles of Pilates are focused on breathing, inhalation usually takes place in preparation for a movement, while exhalation generally through the effort, all pilates exercises have a mental and cognitive aspect to them so concentration, on the movement, bodily position, active and inactive muscle is fundamental to the pilates way. Control is about ensuring that the right muscles are used at the right time to create the desired movement. The core is centring, which is the powerhouse of the body and is where all the movement originates. In pilates , each exercise begins with concentrating the movement from the core and then allowing it to flow outwards to the limbs to complete the desired exercise. precision is given to the joints and limb alignment at the start, middle and end ofeach exercise to ensure the right muscles are recruited to create the movement. All exercises are performed smoothly with fluidity and flow.
Quote by Joseph Pilates "My method develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong posture, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit".
